Rising Waters

Created by Central Michigan University Press

A tabletop board game based on the 1927 Mississippi Flood from Central Michigan University Press. We can now accept preorders from international backers. EU and UK backers, please note: we have EU and UK friendly shipping rates, but instead of rolling VAT into the shipping cost, we have set it up to show the VAT calculation as a separate line item.

Getting Close

Dear Backers,

Apologies for a bit of a silent spell on our end. Each year following Gen Con there isn't a lot of turn around time before everyone on our team gears up for the start of a new semester. It is a chaotic time. However, while we were preparing our classes, Rising Waters arrived in our warehouse in New York. And as we were teaching our first classes, a box of copies arrived in our office! It's been a very good first week of classes, as you can tell.

We have a couple more steps we need to take before the games start shipping out. Alas, despite the sheer number of people who read through and play tested the game, we missed something and now need to get an errata sent to the warehouse to accompany the games. Thankfully, the issue is relatively small and an easy fix, but one that needs to be noted.

Here is that errata for you now:

Despite our best efforts, we discovered an error on the Rising Waters player boards that we did not catch until manufacturing was complete. Player boards indicate that you should start with two pawns on the board, but the rule book will tell you to start with three. You should start with three. Similarly, if you choose to use the optional character powers, the sharecropper should start with four pawns on the board rather than three. Deepest apologies for the error.

On to happier things. Liz Davidson at Beyond Solitaire has created an amazing How to Play video for the game. It is set up as a digital rulebook and will be available on the Press YouTube channel early next week. The curriculum guide should follow that up a week or two after.

On the shipping schedule front, we'll start shipping to the U.S., Canada, and the World (minus Europe) September 15th (hopefully earlier). The timing is disappointing and frustrating, but we've had to change our European fulfillment partner and it has delayed us getting the games across the Atlantic for distribution in Europe. Games for our Backers in Europe should ship to our fulfillment partner around the same time as games shipping to other locations, placing Europe just a bit behind everyone else.

Thank you so much for your patience and support! We cannot wait to get the game to you!
